Back pain is one of the most common complaints in physiotherapy practice. At Movenda in Hasselt we see people with low-back pain every day — young athletes, people with sitting jobs and active older adults.

Why is back pain so common?

The back is a complex of vertebrae, discs, muscles, ligaments and nerves. When one of these parts is overloaded, back complaints can start. The most common causes are sitting for long periods, one-sided load, too little movement, overload from sport, stress and reduced muscle strength or stability.

What can you do yourself?

  • Keep moving — full rest is rarely the answer.
  • Change posture regularly, every 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Work on core stability with targeted exercises.
  • Build load gradually, in sport and in daily life.

When should you see a physiotherapist?

See a physiotherapist when the pain lasts more than a few weeks, keeps coming back, movement is difficult or painful, the pain radiates into the leg, or daily activities are limited.

How does physiotherapy help with back pain?

At Movenda in Hasselt we look at the whole body, not only the place of the pain. We combine manual therapy with exercise therapy (mobility and strengthening) and active rehab: you take part in your own recovery.

Do not walk around with back complaints for too long. Timely treatment can help you recover faster and move without pain again.
