Cupping

Targeted relaxation as part of active recovery.

Cupping has its origins in traditional Chinese medicine. With cups and controlled suction we stimulate the skin, connective tissue and the structures underneath. The technique is used, among other things, with athletes who have stiffness, muscle soreness or complaints around the spine. Some patients then feel temporarily less tension or more comfort in movement. We use cupping only when it fits the full treatment plan.

Who it's for

  • Local stiffness or a tense feeling in muscles and connective tissue
  • Athletes looking for an additional technique inside their recovery
  • Complaints where the therapist expects that temporary tissue stimulation can support movement

How we work

  • Beforehand we discuss the goal, expectations and possible skin reactions
  • Placement and intensity are matched to your skin and your complaint
  • After the treatment we reassess movement and comfort
  • Exercises and the build-up of load remain the basis of the programme

What to expect

Cupping can cause temporary discolouration or sensitivity of the skin. Your therapist explains this in advance and does not use the technique when there are contraindications.

Practical

Duration

Each session lasts about 30 minutes, including administration and changing. Extra time to practise on your own is possible when it fits your programme.
